Iron Maiden Trooper

I honestly don't know why i haven't written about this beer yet.  It combines two awesome and amazing things...beer and Iron Maiden.  Trooper is an ESB, a nice strong bitter with a copper color and good lacing on the glass.  Hailing from Robinson's Family Brewery out of the UK, the beer has a malty, sugary aroma that pairs pretty well with the light caramel flavors, easy hops, and mild carbonation.  It's a pretty easy beer to drink with a nice, hoppy sting at the end, and the bottle is just amazing.  Seriously.  Dig on that Eddie art.

Real Ale Brewer's Cut Double IPA

Real Ale's continuing Brewer's Cut series never ceases to impress me.  Each subsequent one-off release is just as tasty as it is different from what preceded it.  The latest batch is a Double IPA.  The beer pours a nice transparent copper with minimal head, but nice lacing on the glass.  The aromas are immediately detectable, hints of orange, florals, grass, and pine.  The flavor is hoppy and spicy, but well balanced with notes of orange and pine as well.  The brew is easy to drink, and not overpowering, a great beer for an IPA fan.  I dig it.

Penn Pilsner

Because my wife is extraordinary, i am now a proud member of a beer-of-the-month club.  It's pretty fantastic.  And more so, one of the first batches they sent me was the delicious Penn Pilsner from Pennsylvania Brewing Co.  The beer is a Vienna-style lager, with a gold and amber color, a nice foamy head, light carbonation, aromas of grass and lemon, and some sweet flavors of grapefruit, citrus, and light hops.  It's a great beer for a hot day, and pretty different from most pilsners i've had the pleasure of drinking.  No skunkiness.  Just good beer.

Independence White Rabbit

So...maybe beer and i had a little disagreement last weekend.  And maybe some things were done and said that need to be taken back.  The past is the past.  Let's forge ahead.  Austin's Independence Brewing just released a canned Belgian white ale witbier called the White Rabbit, and it's tasty, tasty, tasty.  The beer pours a clear, crisp gold with a nice carbonated head.  Aromas of bread and spice prevail, while the taste is all spice, coriander, and orange peel.  A great libation for the ping-ponging hot and cold days we've been having in central Texas of late.
